Need to fold my wing mirrors in (manual not electric) but daren't put any more pressure on them. Did the same to a Saxo and snapped one off.
They look as if they should fold and I need to get it into a narrow garage.

The mirror's do fold, they may just be stiff if they haven't been folded in a while.

They should all fold if you push them in except the 180 ones as there electric so would ruin the motor if pushed by hand.

It may go in but surely it isn't good for it as they are designed to work on a motor?

Yeah i thought that but it doesnt seem to have damaged it this time at least, and i thought what if it got knocked in by a car coming the other way through some lanes etc? It must be able to take it i suppose?

referring to the folding electric mirrors and not just the electric mirrors. I've always gave this a thought whether it would damage, I know I had my mirrors pushed forward and didn't affect the motor.

I was referring to the ones that the actually mirror folds in on the flick of a switch (gti 180 only) not just moving the glass.

The motor and gearing shouldn't be strong enough to withstand being pushed by hand. It doesn't stop them working but isn't good for them. They have to be designed to move by hand just in case. You can't be expected to replace an entire assembly because a woman with a pushchair has moved the mirror to get past, or the guy next to you in a car park has caught it trying to get into his car.
Had a C3 which had had it's mirror hit by a van. The mirror casing pushed back. Pushed the mirror casing back into the right place, flicked the switch and mirror has worked fine ever since.
I can't think of one car or van on the road that doesn't have folding mirrors (manual or electric) it's a safety feature since it's the part that sticks out the furthest.
