Hi all,
Just got the pug 206 2.0HDi with 52000 miles. I know it's only the 90 but it feels a little sluggish and the mpg still on the computer from the previous owner was 34.4 which I'm thinking is quite low? (Feel free to correct me on that ha)
A friend has suggested unplugging the MAF sensor so I gave that a go and it feels little better. However the engine light has now come on as a result (does go off again once reconnecting the MAF)
Can anyone give me any advice, has had this problem before? And I would love some advice if there was any little things I could do to give it a little extra oomph.

If it was your maff u would have codes stored. That mpg from the privious owner could be because he drove stupid
There are some gains to be had from a hdi do a search and you will see a few things, biggist and cheapish one being a remap

If the car improves with MAF disconnected it MAY be the sensor. They can start to fail and in the early stages NOT throw management light or fault codes.
In principle once moving the car mainly relies on the lambda sensor for fueling but reverts to MAF at idle or full throttle so the biggest improvements is with the throttle in that position.
Most cars with completely failed MAF will idle like a b***h with the MAF removed but drive reasonably well in the mid range as at that point the lambda has taken over. Disconnecting the MAF usually has the same effect.
If you want oomppph then remap. I don't know much about the 206 diesel but if it is non turbo then remap is almost a waste of time.
