Brushes wont help clean the threads under the lockrings. Needs grease on the threads after you've loosened them.

You'll be a lot better off using penetrating oil ... WD40 is over-sold and pretty useless at this.

You might need to use TWO spanners ... one on the top ring, one on the lower. Chases are they've been overtightened and are jamming against each other and the threads now.

what shall i grease them up with after Edward? (what grease)

are you turning the two nuts opposite ways? eg top one right, bottom left?
hammer and bolster normaly works for me.

it will be top one to right and bottom to left, i normally hold one of them with c spanner while other nut is hit with hammer and bolster by a mate (not got enough hands lol)
once the two nuts are apart they will move easy,.

Penetrating oil finds it's way between the two seized components.
Any grease...copper grease...lard...anything that coats the threads to stop moisture and dirt getting into them.

i see. the little spanner thing i have is s**t. its not fixed, it folds. should have done this while they were on the car!
also are these the v maxx coilovers? they any good? i got them free so might trial fit them?

get the bottom pic of the c spanner ( i think it cost only a few quid) and then hammer it until loosen.
