Had a few (a lot of) problems since I bought my 206.. Most recent one is: I'll be driving along fine, then all of a sudden it'll lose power, revs will drop right down, and it'll feel like it's engine braking, then a second or two later it'll pick back up again and drive fine. What's even more annoying is it's completely random, it'll drive 200 miles without doing it, then within 20 miles it might do it 5 times.
It's had a new MAP sensor, cleaned the throttle body, and I put a new coil pack in 2 days ago and it still does it. Spoke to the mechanic last night and he says the only other thing he can think of would be the idle control valve sticking.
Anybody got any thoughts on this? Getting bored of spending so much money "fixing" the car now..

Are you just going to keep on throwing every part you can think of at it until it's fixed or are you going to get it diagnosed properly.

Yep, gonna replace absolutely everything.
Obviously not. I've been to three (very good) garages and none of them are sure what it is. It's been on the diagnostics and the only code that came up was for a faulty MAP sensor which was changed, which stopped another problem where it would cut out while ticking over, and they thought the two could be related, if not the same fault.
Any useful comments?

If it's not running right when driving it's not the idle control valve. It only impacts running when at idle.

It's probably getting a new ICV next week anyway, that's f*cked too. But the problem I said in my first post is the one that nobody can seem to understand. Only reason I mentioned it is because the garages I've been to have said that problem could be linked to the dying ICV?

It's completely random though, however much fuel is in the tank, sometimes it'll do it loads but then it'll go a few days without doing it all

Picked it up from the garage today, had new spark plugs and a new fuel filter. Driving home something new happened.. It cut out twice while driving along. Did another 10 miles to see if it did it again, it was fine. Went out with some friends tonight, probably did 30 miles with no problems, then coming round a roundabout it cut out again. That's an interesting experience.
Had enough of this car now!

Wouldn't imagine a coil pack would cause a complete cut out. Only a missfire.
Has the crank sensor been checked?

Not that I know of. Yesterday was the first time it started cutting out, up until now it's just been randomly losing all power for a few seconds. But I've done just over 200 miles without the loss of power problem so hopefully that might have been solved. Now it's got dodgy idle and the cutting out.
