Can anyone help me where is the best place with the best price for a starter tool kit for car maintenance. One that includes ratchet set, spanners, torque bits, and the tool for removing spark plugs?

Thanks

That Snap-On set is a good price for what you are getting.
Think of tools as an investment, whereby if you spend a bit more, they will last you a lifetime.

Also, and this is from personal experience, don't lend them to anybody! Evil or Very Mad

To be honest Snap on is the best there is. Hence the price.

For a car tool kit which is never going to get used much (even if it was it's plenty good enough for years of service) then Halfords kit can't be faulted.

I got a tool roll from Machine Mart, a set of Halfords Professional screwdrivers for £10 (on offer), a decent little socket set and a pair of decent pliers.

Scrwdrivers £9.99

Socket set £15! Just buy a range of small 1/4" sockets and a 3/8" to 1/4" adaptor.

Pliers £10.49

After the p**s poor customer service I got from Halfords last week getting a broken professional tool replaced ( 2.5mm allen key ) I've stopped buying Halfords tools now.

Halford's loss is the Snap On man's gain Wink

ECP had an offer on tools the other day. Don't know if it's still an active offer.

Machine mart do quite a full comprehensive set with decent boxes for £310 then a smaller one with less good tools for£120 but this cheaper one is about the same as the full boxrs you see like halfords do for about£60 which i started with and the tools arent great quality but if anything breaks its easy to replace with a decent version from snap on or such and u end up with a full good set like me...

So u might have to swallow it and see halfords...or get a relative to help u and get the quality machine mart one at £310inc.vat see site...
