Last night i managed to somehow damage my wiper stalk. It has now gone eally loose and the wipers are now contantly on, to turn them off I have to hold the stalk in the up position. The car is a 55 model, Ive looked on ebay and there are loads for about a tenner but they look different to mine. So I need to know how I remove it and if possible which part number it is. I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole unit.

i have the one you need £10 not sure if you can remove the wiper stalk i just have the whole comms in my shed

Be a new comm2000 needed. I have heard you can split them down to repair them when the pins go faulty but could be more hassle than it's worth.
£10 for a second hand comm unit is a bargain though. £150 new from ECP.
Side note. Is Southport still full of old people? I used to live near The Plough in Crossens. It was more like gods waiting room than a seaside town.

Yes macca its still of coffin dodgers and what little night life it did used to have is now almost gone!

Oh and if anyone does have instructions or a link to info about how to get the old unit off it would be much appreciated.

Put drivers window down and disconnect the battery.Leave the car for at least 10 minutes for any stored energy in the airbag system to disperse. Remove the airbag and steering wheel. Take off the old unit, put new one on (plug and play unless you have ESP) Put everything everything back on.
Reconnect the battery and lean in through drivers window to turn sidelights on to allow the BSI to wake up.
If you don't want to put the window down, it's handy to have a second person sat in the car when you reconnect the battery to turn the sidelights on.

Cheers macca, I had a feeling the steering wheel would need removing. Is it me or do peugeot make everything as difficult as possible. I've had a fair few cars in the past and they all seem much easier to work on.

i wouldnt buy one from ebay, it might have that airbag fault the seems to happen to loads of the comms units, pop to ya local scrapy and find a 206 thats airbags have been deployed, least ya will know that that part works fine, but then again, it i remember right you can just carefully lever the stalk out of a removed comms and unplug the small plug and plug it into yours, but this is a pain as if you pull to hard the wire inside the stalk unplugs and its a right b***h to get back in.

the wheel comes off easy, only tricky bit is the airbag, but once you find the correct way to push the metal bit up, its a 5 second job lol

My car seems to have random airbag, eml issues anyway although this did seem to happen after i ran it on petrol (its a diesel engine) for about 150 miles. Its never been the same since and the amount of grey and black smoke that comes out the back sometimes is amazing!
I've had the steering wheel off before as i replaced it when i first got the car. Although i do seem to remember ending up with a long ribbon wire going everywhere (maybe that was a different car)
