Hi All, i have a problem, my car went into the garage and it needs a new abs pump of all things.... I have the 206 GTI 180 on a 54 plate.

Can anyone tell me if i need to match the part numbers exactly..... I currently have afew numbers taken from the part thats on.

part number 9650222880
another number 10.0960-1134.3

will any other number fit my car as i am having trouble matching one up from a breakers yard. pug want £900 a new one!!!! WTF!! i can have my own re done with a lifetime warranty for £150 but i would rather just get one from a breaker for 80 quid....

has anyone had the same problem???

Yeah, whats wrong with it?! I've never seen a Peugeot or Citroen needing a new ABS pump... it's always the sesnors. Be carefull you're not being mugged off Rob!

Well the easier job is that you find a match with the same number you got,so that the ABS/ESP ECU recognize the new pump,OR you can use a Peugeot Planet 2000,so that you can do new Configuration for the one from scrappy to match the ABS/ESP ECU you got on your car.

cheers guys, the problem is the abs and esp lights are on, i first thought maybe it was the pads or discs every now and again i would loose my breaks completely.... the pedal would just hit the floor and it would give me that grinding noise similar to when your pads completely go!

they plugged it into the machine so ill have to take their word its the pump.

will i be ok putting a similar part number on even if they dont quite match. is it only peugeot that can use this peugeot planet 2000......

lol, this is all just part of my luck.... all out... hopefully ill get this sorted soon, when i do i will post how it went so others will have a guide. as saft as it sounds i cant find much info about this problem.

The abs is only active under extreme braking so I doubt it would effect normal braking. I would pay Peugeot to fault code read it before you pay out on this. Also you'll new Peugeot to activate the abs to bleed it if your replacing it.

I will just point out its NOT un common for the ECU to fail on the pumps which can be seperated from the pump without disconnecting a single pipe. I did this on a 206 i was using to get to work. After a lunch of testing the sensors and then the wiring to the pump i grabbed the second hand ecu i had kicking about and slapped it on after work. 15 minutes top, no coding required on PRE plex NOT multi

there's plenty of 206's being scrapped on ebay...not so many 140s and 180s but there are a few and a abs pump shouldnt be much off one on there...id say that as long as its a true 180 like yours the pump will go right on...

Ok guys, update......

first of all this car is costing me an arm and a leg now, anyone fancy buying it haha.

in the end i had the pump changed, had to make sure the part number matched. got one posted for 93 quid. after that was done they told me i needed to get new sensors or something @ 90 quid each wheel.

In the end the whole thing set me back 515 nicka.... ouch! now im skint, if anyone wants to give 2 pound a month i would be greatful lol.

I have a suspish that it was only the sensors that were faulty but what can you do eh. I still have the anti pollution light on, i think this is to do with the exhaust and oxygen sensors. does anyone know how i can fix this?

In total i had my MOT new pads and discs on the front. new sensors on the front and an abs pump.... was that worth it?

ps. the exhaust is stainless system, i had it custom made in 2008 and has been ok but i have had trouble now with the light being on for about 4 months. it passed the MOT so i think the oxygen sensors may be out of place or something, is this common. The exhaust has slipped off the rear bracket afew times i keep having to put it back on or it rests on the back bumper.

I think your garage has ripped you off big time. Sensors would throw up a fault code for each wheel. Far easier to diagnose. anti pollution fault will come on for any fault do I wouldn't assume anything. Needs a proper code read. I still don't understand how they came up with a abs fault, and I hope they've bled it properly. It's hard to bleed an abs system without the right tools.

The garage started with the most expensive item and then worked their way to the actual fault.

Ask them for the old pump back. It is yours after all. You would probably have a good case to get some of your money back too as they carried out work that wasn't needed.

Does your custom exhaust have a cat fitted? This could be on the way out.

As Steve says, needs a proper code read. There must be someone near Wolverhampton with Peugeot Planet that will plug it in for a bit of incentive their way.
