The 1.4 engine in my 1999 206 headgasket has gone, so I decided to swop the engine with a 2002 engine that was out of a saxo, the saxo engine was suggested by a fellow member on here.
I swopped all the electrical components, flywheel and clutch assemberly, complete wiring, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, etc, the only difference was the old engine was the spin on oil filter type and this one has the vertical paper filter type.
Came to connect the exhaust and the position of the lamba sensor is stopping the exhaust connecting onto the manifold as the upright plastic oil filter housing is fouling on the lamba sensor, I am sure this is a problem others have encountered up but I am unable to find any details using the search facility.

I see three solutions,

1. cut the exhaust and turn it 33 degree as it is a three bolt connection and reweld

2. cut the lamba connection out of the exhasut pipe and reweld in new position welding a blank over the old hole.

3. somebody is going to give me a brainwave on how they cured the problem.

could you not use the front pipe off a saxo then connect to your original exhaust using a flexi pipe

You need to get the exhaust system from a 206 1.4 that has an underfloor cat. I had this problem when I changed the engine in my 1.4

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Can't you just take the original lambda sensor out the downpipe & screw it in to the top of the later manifold instead?

Then block the downpipe hole up - see your motor factor for a blank.

Ive not long scrapped a manifold and cat that would have done the job. I have the same oil filter. You dont necessarily need the underfloor cat manifold as the manifold with the 4 bolt cat will work perfect as that is what was fitted to my 2002 1.4.

Thank you for your replies,

Unfortunately I do not have the cownpipe off the saxo donor engine that I bought.

The original exhaust manifold on my car is a three bolt connect and to use a four bolt cpnnection would mean buying either a new exhaust or making a plate connection to marry together

I think that the only option ids to cut and weld
