Get a garage or competent mechanic to look at it, it could have bent the valves but with out looking we wouldn't know.

No 100% but I read it before. On the 1.1's anyway so I would have thought all the 8V's were the same.

I recommend that you contact KrisB either on this forum or on his website - he will probably know for certain rather than guess.

Correct, valves will be bent.

Compression test is called for first but it's 99.9% certain it's gonna be off with its head Laughing

Frozen water pump I'm guessing due to lack of antifreeze.

What He Said

iv done quite a few tu jobs at work where the belts have snapped and they have all had bent valves Sad

on the positive side it is a really easy engine to take the head off so shouldnt be mega expensive and if you do it yourself its not overly difficult

Not yet it hasn't; the valves will still be bent! (joke)

You may get away with it if the engine was only being cranked on the starter.
You'll still have to take the head off to make sure though unless you can find a garage with an endoscope.

I have a complete 1.4 head for sale all valves intact etc, could be an easier option than replacing the valves in your head.

I bet he was still cranking it while it snapped so id say he sent the pistons into a couple of valves

Some if not all the valves will be Donald Ducked.

Its extremely rare a TU gets away without any damage when the timing belt fails.
