not too bad as i can sort these out but its just my emissions im worried about, firstly of all it failed on -
- nearside headlamp aimed too high
- exhaust noise is clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar vehicle fitted with a standard silencer in average condition
-windowscreen sticker (my sunstrip) or other obstruction encroaching by more than 10mm with zone A
-windowscreen sticker or other obstruction encroaching into the swept area by more than 40mm outside zone A
- nearside side repeater incorrect collour
now this is what im worried about and need advice please as i dont understand it, but the mechanic said that my exhaust was so big it was sucking in oxygen !?
fast idle test - failed
engine speed 2500 - 3000rpm - not checked
co =< 0.30% 0.52% - fail
hc =< 200ppm 126ppm pass
wierd symbol i can put :S like an upside down 'Y' 0.97 - 1.03 1.048 - fail
second idle test: fail
engine speed 2500 - 3000rpm - not checked
co =< 0.30% - 0.33% = fail
hc =< 200ppm 91pmm - pass
(upside down Y) - 0.97 - 1.03 1.052 - fail
natural idle test - fail
engine speed 450 - 1500rpm not checked
co =< 0.50% 0.71% fail
advice please? bit of a dragging topic -.-

Do you still have the standard box? To get it through the MOT?

I don't think the back box will have any effect on the emissions. A good thrashing before the MOT to warn the cat up might help though.

Put some "wynns pre MOT" or "Wynns emmisions reducer" in your fuel tank and give the carr a good hard drive

You get much better chemicals to reduce emmissions in SHELL performance petrol, So fill up with that and get the car nice and hot for the re-test.
Part from that its a cheap fix for the car to have another year on the road.

What he may mean, as I had this before with a blitz system is that when they put the probe up the exhaust it can only reach so far. If the bore is too large then the gasses swirling out can also cause some normal air to enter the exhaust enough to interfere with the testers probe. If you could insert the probe further the problem would go away. But you cant. So reducing the bore size by fitting the old backbox should see it pass.

Or does he mean there is a leak in the exhaust system? Causing on the negative exhaust waves to draw in sed oxygen to throw out your emissions?
Had a bit of a giggle on the fact its too loud, at 107DB i still pass because its a subaru impreza
