It's part of the solenoid in the door and the BSI detects it opening and closing.

Multimeter time!

Going to the door solenoids seems a lot of work, when you could just go to a central place. Wink

Wondering about the operation of the alarm. Is activation/deactivation controlled by the central locking? If it's not, I can see it getting very annoying to the neighbours, and annoying to use as you juggle the remotes.

Why not broaden your horizons and try a car alarm specialist.

A PSA unit would be a decent start.
Failing that, depends what you want to achieve from having the alarm. Fitting ultrasonics easier than going to the interior light feed, but can be temperamental. Saves having to run a wire to the boot though.
A shock sensor is handy to pick up if the glass is smashed, although no good if you have wagons (or boy racers) going past where you park your car.
Do you want it to work from the original key fob or an alarm fob that will operate the the central locking?
Do you want to add extra features? Total closure so you can close the windows as the alarm sets.
Flashing red light on the dash? Handy deterrent and costs £1
Indicator or headlamp flash?
External siren, internal siren or horn?

My advice, if you are unsure. Go to an expert to get the right alarm for you and fitted properly.
