Guys I need to change the Aux belt on my 2005 1.4 16v.
I have checked on here but I can't find a how to. Does anyone know if there is one. Or can you tell me what to do. Not sure which is the tensioner and how to release it?

If it's an automatic tensioner just put a ratchet on reverse onto the bolt, slacken it and pull the belt off
If it's manual (I can't remember what / if any 206s have these as it's normally without belt power steering) undo the bolt on the alternator, push it back to loosen the belt and remove it.
Just remember what way it went on the pulleys - and it may be very tight to get back on I often have to use a breaker bar to get enough leverage for the tensioner to fit the new belt on. Isn't difficult, can be done in 2 mins

Just need a 16mm spanner on the tensioner on a GTi...yours might be the same.

16mm on both my GTi's & my 1.4 was the short extension into the tensioner and pull.

Some of you might laugh, but I am really proud of this!
I have never done any work on my cars before getting my 206 in Oct last year. I have now changed the discs pads. Aux belt. Track rod ends next.
I read through the Haynes manual. Went to the car took the old belt off. Routed the new belt from memory!
Then sweated grunted and shouted as I held the tensioner and put the last section of the belt on the last roller / pulley.

Track rod ends should be relatively easy.
Why are you changing them?
After changing them get a full four wheel alignment done. The more sensitive equipment will measure the rear (they never point where the manufacturer intended) and that will be taken into account when setting the front. Although you are on a four point machine you will only pay for what is adjusted so that should be about £35.

The ns one has a lot of play. The os one has no play but the rubber has collapsed. So thought I may as well do both.
My local garrage does 4 wheel alignment. So that should not be a problem.

Advice for track rod ends, get a blowtorch or a very strong source of heat, if they havent been touched for a long time, they like to seize inside the track rod.
i did one last year it wasnt until i had the track rod glowing hot that it finally moved.
