To cut a long story short, i have replaced the rocker cover and sump gasket , camshaft and crankshaft oil seal. I still have a oil leak, it seems to be co

ming from around the headgasket front corner timing belt side. Car runs fine does not use any coolant, any thing i can put in the oil to stop it, don't fancy replacing head basket. Car is a 1.4 8v petrol, been running it on fully 5-40 oil, not sure if thicker oil will help.

I think 1.4 8v headgasket is a known issue! If it's gone replace it. It will only get worse. Trying to do a bodge will cause you more problems in the long run.

Known common TU issue, new head gasket needed before the oil leak kills the alternator Wink

Car is costing me a fortune ,spent over £800 on it so far, and o/s front wheel bearing gone now too. What gasket is the best to use and do the bolts need replacing. Car done 132000 miles scco noct sure if its wise to keep spending on it.

Be warned they don't always show any symptoms when they go until they catastrophically go, my 1.4 ran perfectly for 3-4 months when it was going, showed no sign of a blown head gasket till the final week where it drunk a load of fuel (i was lots of short journeys helping someone move so again didn't notice) and then on the final night of moving this happened.

So my heafgasket will need doing,seeing i have spent over£800 on it i am g

oing to have to get it done.I have a Hayes manual i can read up on ,just can not be without my car for too long. Any tips or best gasket to get, being a early 2001 car will it be a alloy head and block.

Also being a older car with so miles on the clock, i take it the hard will need skimming too but how do i no that its not been skimmed before, has i take it they can only be skimmed twice.
Thinking of finding a spare cheap head is my engine a tu3.
