so just picked the car up from the garage and just as i suspected it has failed its MOT.

1, rear fog lamp not working
2, front (both sides) anti-roll bar has excessive play in a ball joint
3, offside rear break pipe excessively corroded
4, (strap corroded and broken) fuel tank insecure

now i have the worries of how much dosh this is going to cost me, has anybody any idea 2,3,4 will cost me? (ish)

or if they are easy enough to do myself if i get the parts?

thanks

Fuel tank strap is £10.87 including VAT from Peugeot & easy to fit, spray the fixings with release agent for a few days before you attempt to undo them.

Rear fog lamp, first thing is check the bulb.

Front drop links are cheap to buy & easy enough to fit.

Brake pipe needs someone with a flaring tool to make a new pipe.

I've no idea, possibly in the How To section.

Fuel tank strap seems to be a common weak point on the 206 now, make sure the tank is nearly empty before you undo the old strap.

I did it last year Wink

Its easier up on a ramp BUT if you haven't got access to a ramp then you can do it with the car up on axle stands or drive up ramps.

My solid brake pipes are fine as they are protected from corrosion.

I change my fuel tank strap last year because it didnt look too nice. Just spray lots of WD40 on the threads before yo take it off. The thread can be a little grubby. New nyloc nuts would be useful too.

Just done my droplinks, but ended up snapping my spring .
Put the car on jack and got the grinder out to cut thro it, and when i did the engine dropped and broke my spring Crying or Very sad
So, i'd put it on axles, and support the engine with a trolly jack, before you endevour to remove them.
me, well ive got new drop links, and now a lowered front end with new springs and shocks .Just the rear to lower now / sigh
All for the sake of doing a small job.

How does your engine drop from taking the drop link off?

yes that what happened.
engine dropped bout 6-8 inches, and bad noise, the spring broke on that side.
Dont know how , as i would have done it properly otherwise.
thought if i just cut it off(as the bolts were going round, and unable to loosen them) then just a matter of putting the new one on.
cars 11/12 years old so maybe just unlucky Crying or Very sad
