Please dont judge me!!

I foolishly put jump leads on the wrong way round and now nothing is happening. It is my 180 so there is no help at all with manuals etc.. So far I have tried...

Checking all fuses - as best I can in the dark
Check earth strap
Tried jumping directly to the terminals (bypassing the battery)

It is like something like a fuse has tripped but I cannot see where. I think it is odd that nothing blew.. unless I am missing something. I know of the fuse boxes adjacent to the battery and the one by the steering column, and I can see nothing wrong...

What am I missing??

Thanks

I'm thinking it's a possible fried BSI unit.

Any way of testing/knowing?? Surely I would have SOMETHING, even interior lights?

The battery was completely flat... so I was hoping that the charge didnt get so far

They were on for maybe 30 seconds before starting the donor car... then when it didnt start, I immediately saw fault and disconnected

I am charging battery now - but surely jumping direct to terminals would at least work??

Thanks guys.. I'm really worried for my baby here!!

It wouldn't matter if it's a fried battery because your not getting anything even if you go directly to the terminals themselves. I'm not sure how you test the BSI...but there is a few threads about on here which will tell you.

I am thinking more along the lines of... cheap jump leads... 30 seconds on inverted polarity.. possibly fried jump leads...??

Don't know - just want to be able to sleep tonight!! Smile

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

had a few customers at work do this. ecu/bsi is normally ok because there are so many circuit protections not sure where off the top of my head but most cars have a main bolt in fuse like 100amp or something to protect against this. it wont be in the fuse box with the blade fuses will be either tucked away under the dash or underneath the main fuse box or something like that. il have a quick look on our data at work tommorow and see if they have got one and if so where it is.

Maxi fuses under the fuses in the engine compartment. I'd check those too. but you have put a live where it shouldn't, so who knows what problems there might be.

Someone else did this not long ago, so do a quick search. He didn't have many problems tbh.
