hi all,

My steering has started to squeak when turning either direction when stationary or very slow speed. I had just had my wheels taken off / on after having them refurbished, I think this is when the problem started but unsure. It was alot louder when raining.. any thoughts?

thanks!

Same noise when going over bumps, dont have to turn but even the slightest turn it squeaks. Could this still be issue with pump?

I'd say with that additional information I'd be looking at the suspension rather than steering pump/belt, but without hearing the actual noise it's hard to say... How long does the sound last? - a slipping belt can keep at it continuously, but something with a limited movement range will be limited in duration (though possibly repetitive...)

Mine was doing this, up on ramps to check and on full lock it would squeak around the steering rack. Back on the ground it's stopped!

Problem has returned, but now it is creaking so loudly it can be heard from inside! I got it checked and they said the ball joint needs replacing. I'm failing to understand how this joint perfectly in position can make a loud noise when turning, and it was changed last summer. Never had any loud creak from a ball joint.. but if this is case got no problem changing it AGAIN.

All of a sudden, it stopped again!! Really don't know what to make of this.. :S
It maybe occurs when something gets wet, keeping this in mind.
