Hi,

I've just recently (about 2 months ago) had a CV Joint replaced (driver's side) due to knocking/clunking from steering. I have noticed the C.V. boot has almost come completely off. Even immediately after the garage replaced the C.V. Joint, the steering was still knocking a bit. I've also noticed the steering pulling to the left a bit. I was just thinking if the C.V. boot is split, would I need to get the C.V. Joint replaced yet again? The noise seems to be coming from the top mount though and can only really hear it when car is going very slow or stationery. My garage "apparently" checked top mounts/top mount bearings as I advised them I thought this was the problem. Drop links have already been replaced along with wishbones.

Many thanks

Simon

You would normally tend to hear a CV knocking / clicking when on full lock of the steering so any noise from the front i would suspect drop link ( you say they have been changed ) followed by top mounts.

to check the top mounts properly the front shocks would need to be removed Wink
