Hi all new her and also a virgin 206 owner this is my first one purchased it tonight its a 51 plate gti,all seems to work except the speedo which I noticed jumping from a steady speed to nothing then making its way back again, also as never had one of these do I need to look out for anything likely to bust on me straight away? This has problem been covered a million times and I appologise for that but the more info I can get on the car the better thanks all.

Speed sensor on the gearbox or a busted cluster.
If changing the cluster, ensure you buy one with a lower mileage if you are plexed, or as close as you can if you're non-plexed.
Also worth trying a BSI reset (as it's free)

It's the type of electrical system. If your radio stalk is long and thin, then it's non-plexed (old school normal electrics). If it's short and fat, then the you are multiplexed with CAN-VAN electrics.
The shut down procedure can be found in 206 Talk > Beginners Guide to a 206
