Yes folks upon welcoming the 206 to her new home the age old dashboard problems come with her. She's a 2000 (X-reg) 1.4LX, pre-plex.
I've changed all the relevant fuses that could be connected to the problems so they're ruled out as potential causes. No problems with the stereo, A/C, heater, hazards, etc.
The clock is well and truly dead so I'll be looking for one at the local scrappy or eBay. But how do I find which version of the clock I need as I understand there is more than one type?
The heating control bulbs have gone too along with the bulb in the cigarette lighter but as I'm getting a multisocket I'm not bothered about the cigarette lighter. I'm led to believe the bulbs that illuminate the heater controls are 509T, is that correct and how many do I need? I'd like some red ones if possible so if anyone knows where I can get some online I'd be most grateful for the info.
Apart from that everything electrical works exactly as it should (amen for the posts about the red/yellow stereo wires, very easy fix).
Thanks in advance for any info.

It's just the very basic one Zack, no fancy screen, that would've made life too easy lol.

Your clock might just be OK and the back-light bulb is gone too.
Again same type bulb, so worth a try if you can see faint digits in the LCD.
Also bear in mind when you disturb cluster units other bulbs immediately blow because the fillaments are very frail with age. So might be good to get extra bulbs and fit them while you're at it.

Yeah the bulb on the cigarette lighter has gone too but the illumination for the window and mirror switches are fine.
I've tried all the tricks to see if there's life in the clock (shining a torch on it, absolute darkness with no street lights outside work, you name it) but it's dead by the look of it. Munchkin's cousin works at a scrappy so I'll get him to keep his eyes open for a working one when a similar 206 comes in.
The LED bulbs I've seen are said to last far longer than normal bulbs so if they're as good as the look and seem to last well then I'll replace all the standard bulbs in the car with long-life LED's at some point to save hassle later. For 99p P&P for as many bulbs as you want and £1 a bulb it makes sense to get a few extra rather than messing around later. It's only like a couple of pints of beer anyway and we won't be missing that while we're messing around changing bulbs in the dash lol (although may feel the need for a few afterwards lol).
I work for an electronics company so I may find out if any of the guys in the R&D could diagnose a fault in the old clock and fix it as a spare. It'll give the lazy gits something to do when they're bored and if they can then I'd gladly post how they did it.

When I was in the UK, we used to call these sort of 'outside work' "Rabbits" for some reason..
I never liked LED's for dash, much nicer to use bulbs and they go-on for 10+ years those small ones.
Which company if you don't mind me respectfully asking?
