My 180 is idling like sh*t, got a slight blow in weld where the cat meets the center section. But me and my brother jacked the car up earlier and whilst mucking about we noticed that when i push the accelerator down slow i can go up to 3500Rpm and properly more with out the butterfly valve opening. But when and push down quickly the butterfly valve opens, even when i just do it hard and firm to 2000Rpm it opens. Is this correct? I think that there my be a problem with the following for s**t idle:

- MAF/MAP sensor
- VVT needs cleaning
- New spark plugs
- Cam shaft Sensor needs cleaning

But mainly i think my throttle body is f**ked and is starving the engine?

Also to change the manifold on a 180 does the engine need to be out, because of the small space i cant even pull the heat shield out? Also does anyone no if its possible to buy A new VVT?

Lastly i cant seem to locate the two cam shaft sensors, i can see the one the the right of the coil pack but not the other?

There is only one cam sensor, and the engine would need dropping and tipping forward to get at the manifold.

I thought there was only one, but when i look on eurocarparts its says there is two. what do you recon is the reason for the lumpy idle? and and comments on the throttle body?

buying a janspeed this week is it a straight fit or do i need to make hangers?

Janspeed a straight fit as far as i know,There pretty lumpy anyway to be honest unless its affecting the way it drives then i'd leave it.

janspeed is a direct straight fit mate both my 180's are a bit lumpy on idle untill warm, the temp sensors do seem to be quite a common part to go wrong and that would/does make them idle bad untill they warm up.

yea i know mate but mine idles like sh*t all the time. have to wait till i have done my exhaust the give everything a good cleaning before my MOT the main thing i am worried about is my throttle body???

Personally i would say yes.

As you varying the load you demand as the ECU see's it. Ie the slow opening may use the idle control ports to direct flow around rather than opening the TB and giving a lean mixture into the combustion. But since on the second go you slam the throttle on it believes you want full load so it opens the TB

Makes sense, thought i new loads about peugeot 206's cause had every problem going on my 1.1 but the 180 is a lit different lol. thanks
