Plug the car in to any scanner that gives live data and see what the coolant temperature is.

Lumpy idling could be down to dodgy lifters...all sorts of reasons.

Would "dodgey lifters" cause the car to be lumpy, then after 1min be fine?

Even now a'days I start the car, if its ticking over like a hoebag, I turn the car off instantly, wait 20seconds then start the car up again and its always fixed, ticking over perfect.

NOTE: Forgot to mention, if I leave the car ticking over like a b***h, sometimes (2 out of 10 times) the car will stall itself and the engine managment light comes on. But after a 10min wait with key out of ignition, the next time I start the car all is fine and no warning lights.

It might be a seal afterall, judging by the way the grime has set. not 100% sure tho. can't feel any change though, and no ridges, which you would expect if it was a seal.

Is anyone elses the same sensor colours as mine?

That is not a seal, I take it back.

Scan the ECU for codes.. Your EML came on.

From experience those symptoms match dodgy lifters perfectly.

So, when u say lifters, what exactly do you mean mate, lol. Expensive? Worth changing on an 900 quid car? Thank you for your input!

Hydraulic lifters. I had a used Longman head fitted to my car and it would run rough for the first 200 yards ish. When it was really cold weather it would put the ECU light on for a short while.

I could switch the car off and restart it and it would run smooth.

When I had the throttle bodies fitted the only mechanical change was some new Peugeot lifters and the camshafts. No more spluttering.

Hmm, done a tiny bit of research and by lifters you mean Hydraulic Tappets?
www.eurocarparts.com/e...c42&000571

Is that them?

And guessing I need 16 of the little buggers?

Plus is it a lengthy job? To change them, would it cost an arm and a leg at a garage?

Bit of a job yes. It's basically a cambelt job plus a bit more.

Ahh cool, thank you for you input again Edward, standup guy Smile
