Thought it was time i reuploaded my Mk2 Golf Project, I'm in no particular rush to get this finished as the car doesn't owe me any money as i spend only what i have spare. So let's get on with the good stuff.....
Well i got hold of this Mk2 cheap enough to purchase and use as a second car.
First job i decided to do was strip the car down and fully check the car over for rust/dents and generally anything to repair.

As you can see from the first photos the car is in good condition which tbh i was surprised by i was expecting to find something with the interior removed such as surface rust etc.
the only rust i have found so far is in the drivers sill and underneath on the chassis, which i will be getting welded up ASAP.

*UPDATE - PARTS*
Well thanks to Arnie off here i've got a load of items to start repairing the golf. I order the following and collected them at a very reasonable price so big thanks to Arnie cheers fella.
Parts Ordered:
Front Discs
Front Pads
Rear Drums
Rear Shoes
Rear Shoes Fitting Kit
Wishbones
Pair of front bushes + Sleeves
Copper piping for new brake lines + sellection of ends.
Trackrod Ends

Also some good news the golf is in at Innovation BodyworX having a full respray, they will be replacing the drivers side sill and rear arch and sorting out a few other bits of rust and repainting the car in the standard Tornado Red i think it is.

Went up to work on the golf today and sort the front & rear brakes out. However that was a nightmare as everything has ceased up pretty much thank god i purchased pretty much everything new lol.
Trying to get the bolts out is a killer and is going to take a few days including refurbing the parts i'm keeping and repainting them hammerite black.
Its also having two new wings now due to rotten arches, cheaper and easier in the long run.

UPDATE - WHEELS
Well finally after waiting a couple of weeks and praying i hadn't been scammed in the back of my mind i brought some wheels from Devo on ED38.
The wheels aren't in the best condition but tbh its too much hassle to strip/paint/rebuild them so i might buy some more brand new in the future but these will do for now.
there 15" x 7", think i'll be running 165/50/15 tyres and i need a set of knock offs for them. Both tyres/knock offs will have to wait for a bit until the car is on the road
While i'm not doing much i decided to clean up the engine abit and give it a few coats of hammerite all be some cheaper version lol. Makes the engine look a lot better than before been all rust and s**t.
It going to need touching up in places when its in the air on a crane and then back in the car.

a couple more photo's of the golf now fully stripped of doors/glass/bootlid etc. you can see the extent of damage caused by the rot from the roof/door seal, this is going to be cut out and lead filled to make sure the strength is still in the A pillar. Also the front window lip needs a small amoutn of lead loading which i am glad about has been found now while all the work is being carried out.

Right people it's been another busy day in the life of the golf
Today i set about changing the water pump and cambelt, hank god i did the water pump was completely f****d to the point i had to smash it off with the biggest hammer and chisel i could find lol. With that done i then set about sorting the engine bay / front end parts ready for refitting. Had to remove a bolt that had snapped off during removal nice easy job with the right tools
Got the engine back in place this afternoon with the driveshafts in place and all the mounts bolted up and in place. Had a mad spruce up with loads of B&Q cheap hammerite paint i have cleaned and painted everything on the engine lmao. Only done it to tidy it up for now until i can be bothered to decide what is happening under the hood.
I also need four bolts from a m3 golf rear axle, specifically the ones the that hold the caliper carriers to the axle. If you have any let me know ASAP please.
Not got any photo's but i will do over the weekend.

Right what a bloody day with this damn car!!
Finally got my new oil filter and rear brake flexi's delivered so went up today to attempt to sort things out and get the project moving forward. Got the oil filter fitted and checked all connections were tight, filled the oil up. After about 5mins leaving it time to get to the sump i find the sump has a small pinhole in it causing a lot of oil to leak out
Then spent an hour getting the bloody sump off which was made even harder by the fact i couldn't remove the driveshaft from the gearbox and the two hidden bolts covered by the gearbox meaning i nearly had to remove the engine and drop the box off. However got round it finally and got the sump off cleaned it up a treat using a stream bath what a toy i need one of these myself
Then got Darren at IBX to lead load the sump which cured the leaking issue tested by filling the sump with water lol. Also decided to paint the sump and gearbox in more black hammerite, got a bit carried away and ended up painting the exhaust tip temporary as it had overspray on it plus it looked s**te.
Ran a new brake line to the back for the passenger side caliper however still haven't found anybolts yet so i can't sort any of the brakes yet hopefully the scrappy will be helpful and have something knocking around.
On a better note i triple checked all the wiring and the coolant pipes and made sure the battery was charged. Filled the coolant up and fitted the battery and prayed for dear god and after a few mins of cranking over getting the fuel though and sorting the earthing point the car started
So the car starts and runs so i'm happy about that, just need to fit the windows and sort the brakes tomorrow then were almost ready for the MOT

*MAJOR PROBLEM*
Well what a C**T today has been got the scrapyard to get some bolts and the usless moron's wouldn't bother lifting the car up out the ground for me so thought sod it and went to VW for 4 bolts in the end only managed to get 3 but they cost me £6.50 grrrr saves playing in the mud and oil though.
So with that sorted and finally getting to the bodyshop to continue the build up of the golf an hour late. I speak to my mate(owner) to find out the sump p**sed oil all over the floor last night meaning the sump still leaks what an epic fail and waste of time yesterday
So i got the car turned round and back on the ramp, stole the engine hoist and got my little table/bench setup with the tools needed and set about pulling the engine back out. Now i'm getting good at this engine removal/refitting malarky  so had the engine drained/disconnected and out swinging in the air within 30mins.
I set about stripping the gearbox/driveshafts which wouldn't part from the gearbox so had to come off in one. The engine is now waiting on the hoist till tomorrow morning when my new sump, gasket kit and sealer arrive for fitting. Was expecting a major bill of £100+ so half expecting to roadtrip it tonight for a GTI enigne lol. Ended up paying £45 for eveything i need.
Got the rear quater side window's in, door and boot seals, rear lights and a few other small bits ready for the big refit early next week now.
So in all the day has ended up going two steps forward and three steps back.

*Update*
Friday i had a nightmare with the gearbox not selecting the gears correctly, which turned out to be a worn part between the gearstick and the gearbox. Quickly squashed the part in a vice and it's a snug fit again and now select's gear with reserve a bit stiff but will wear in in a few days.
Have a problem with the engine being extremely loud on tickover not sure if the tappet's are worn or the fact it might not have oil pressure pushing the oil upto the cam's again need to run it about for a bit to see if it sort's itself out.
On a better note i need to put fuel in and leave it running outside for a bit. The doors/bootlid/wings/lower valance/bonnet are in primer and will be painted tomorrow i think meaning i can have the car in one piece by the weekend ready for an MOT
