when i have been on the road for a while and applied the brake peddle,when i take my foot off i get a whistle sound,touch the peddle and it goes off..this happens now and again...any ideas guys.....

Brake servo is on its way out. I had the same just get a second hand one and replace it. But in a nutshell the servo has a leek and air is getting out by the seal

You could do a quick test with the servo, with the engine switched off pump on the brake pedal a few times till it goes solid, then with the foot resting on the brake pedal, start the engine up you will notice the brake pedal will go down. Listen for any escapeing air.

is the petrol servo and the diesel servo the same my 206 is diesel....

No servo on a diesel it is a vacuum pump.
I would strip, clean and lubricate the brake callipers first as it could be a slightly sticking calliper.

hi kandlbarrett..thanks for your reply,in it you say there is no servo on the diesel model 206..mine has one,its on the bulkhead behind the battery case..???...raf665..

Sorry, corrected. I assume you are right and there is a servo but the he vacuum for that is created by a mechanically driven vacuum pump rather than a hose connected to the intake manifold.
