Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of selling my car... Today when I started her up for a little run to keep the battery healthy I heard an odd noise I've never noticed before. As I put my foot on the accelerator there was a sound of running water coming from the left hand side of the car.. it sounded as though it was possibly just behind the glove box.
The car drove fine with no issues, and the sound appeared to reduce or disappear completely once out on the road. The engine did however take a few hard revs on starting to get flowing normally.. perhaps due to being stood for a week without running?
Any experience, knowledge or suggestions of what may of caused this sound would be greatly appreciated!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I had this issue, mechanic said its rare for what happened to mine to happen but basically the 1st piston dropped out the wet liner the engine would run but then when got it would swell and then when engine was off and turned back on it wouldn't move causing it to run on 3 cylinders..it gives same symptoms as head gasket white smoke etc..although it could just be your heater matrix

Probably just water circulating around, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd check your radiator for leaks , I had this when mine went . Also check coolant levels , if there is a leak you can here the coolent circulating when it gets low .

What's the chance of the sill being full of water because the drain holes are blocked?

Well the sound of running water inside always cause by air in the coolant system,well if you had coolant changed and the bleeding were not right,you will have air trapped in the system,or you have a leakage some where in coolant system,starting from the radiator,expans. tank (cap faulty),hoses,and last one would be the heater matrix radiator,which maybe full of dirt,which makes the water running weak in the system,and don't forget to check your coolant level.

I'll get on checking coolant system tomorrow.. Had a feeling it may be something to do with that as I had issues a few years back.
