Hi guys

My 1.1 206 pre plexed won't start, I think it may be the battery, however I'm not sure. If anyone could give any advice or offer suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nothing really, turn the key and get the usual lights on the dash n not much more than that other than a ticking noise

Try this, give the starter motor a few taps with an hammer, (solanoid probably sticking)

Sounds like the battery, doesn't always have to be something major. Start with the easiest options.

Had the same problem, could hear ticking, was a flat battery as the car had sat for so long, fired up straight away once I charged the battery

Don't jump start a 206 as there is a very real risk of damaging control units.

It can take months for problems to appear and diagnosing them is often a pain.

A lot of people will say I've done it loads of times and no problem but there's too many factors that affect this issue to be sure.

It is much better to isolate battery (dis-connect) and use a charging unit for the job, unless in an emergency situation.

I am saying this, as an assumption that the car has been starting ok in the last 24 hours or so.
If it was the battery then normaly you would still have a bit of life still there, turning over, but not quite starting, then a few more attempts, until nothing at all.

Put the lights on. Turn the engine over. If the lights go off then there's no power in the battery.
