Hi
I have an air bag light issue hoping you experts can help out?

It's a 206, 2002 1.1L car. The air bag light comes on before and after ignition and stays on with a warning beeping sounds. In this car, there are two air bag lights (one on the left for the passenger side when it is switched off by the car key) and (one on the right should be the drivers/steering wheel air bag).....it is this driver side/steering wheel light which is ON!

I have tried taken the air bag out and cleaned the connections but failed. I have also noticed the air bag was new when installed into the car as it states behind the air bag it is dated in 10/2002.....and also 10/2012 (10 years after) below it.....Is this a time issue?

There are no wire connections under the seats on this car.

Any advice on this on how to resolve this?.....thanks in advance.

Needs scanning for fault codes.

PSA Peugeot / Citroen airbag lifespan is 15 years before they recommend they be replaced.

Originally PSA airbag lifespan was 10 years BUT since your car was built they have increased the lifespan to 15 years after extensive testing of aged airbag / seatbelt pretensioners.

Peugeot France has conducted extensive testing on aged airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners. As a result of these tests it was decided that the service life of these devises can be extended by 5 Years without compromising safety. At the time of the introduction of air bags and seat belt pre-tensioners in 1994 it was recommended for all pyrotechnic safety equipment to be replaced after a service life of 10 Years. Peugeot will now guarantee serviceability for 15 years. This new recommendation by the manufacturer applies to all Peugeot models.

From when do they start the 10/15 years though? The moment the car is handed over on the forecourt "as new" to the original owner or do they go off when the car was first built, which if it was sat in a field somewhere for a year before being registered means a year less service life for no reason.

as MrBSI said, best thing to do is to have a fault read,as you might have a problem with com2000,or the pretensioners,or the Airbag ECU (AutoLiv) which is located in the center console under the ashtray,so easiest way to eliminate any of these 3,is to have a code reading.
