Changed one wheel on 206 with a saxo vtr alloy, this protruded the sidewall but no tread is this legal, I know this is a grey area any advice please

Im sure there are plenty of chavs happy out there that they can keep there alloys once they trade up from a shitbox Saxo in to a 206
