Drives me nuts when people get this wrong. But, to be honnest sometimes even I slip on the dampers / shock absorber description. Tisk, tisk.

yes I mean the dampers thanks! Thanks also for the advice but its too much work me to do! Just reading though your do's & don'ts - a couple of things have got me thinking. You mention the gearbox seals. . .could these be easily broken during a clutch replacement?
The reason I ask it because I have an oil leak coming from appears to be the drive shaft. But I've had it replaced only to find that it still leaks! So maybe its a gearbox seal? Is there only 1 gearbox seal?
Could you also send me a picture of the heat shields on the bottom swivel joints?

I had exhaust gas leaking from a small crack in the manifold. It was replaced and the oxygen sensor goes in the top, looks like a small spark plug. Performance and mpg change was huge when the o2 sensor and manifold were replaced.
206 sw 1.4 petrol, 10300miles.

No longer have a 206 in the fleet, sorry. PS buy a Haynes manual, not perfect but good for smaller jobs. Yes gearbox to driveshaft seals can be damaged changing a clutch. You would have to be pretty careless though. You can also split drive shaft gaiters doing a clutch. Seals and gators deteriorate with age - put them in unusual positions or force them a little when they are old and they will often leak.

Yeah the gators were changed but as far as im awear they only contain grease don't they? The gearbox seal will be the next place to investigate. I am very interested to see what this heat shield near the wishbones look like. . .honestly don't think mine are still there. The wishbones/drop links have been replaced 3 times in 2 years 3months - maybe the heat from the brakes it speeding up the wearing process?

The heat from the brakes damages the bottom swivel joint that is clamped to the strut / damper.
The heat from the brakes does not damage the 2 large rubber joints that the wishbone pivots on.

If you have a Haynes manual there are two poor quality pics.
Section 10 page 4 pic 1.13 and section 10 page 3 and tool tip. The pics aren't great but you can just see it.
I can't find any pics by searching the net.
