Cheers. They only seem to list single stalks (Valeo) I need the whole unit Delphi 6242c6 |
Eurocar parts do sell new Valeo com 2000 units, pop in / ring your local branch but be warned they might have to order it in overnight.
A Valeo com unit will fit & work fine & is a lot better quality, just get the correct part number. |
Just wondering what part number mine will be and where on the comms unit will it show the part number ? I have a 2003 2.0 hdi although esp lights up on the clocks there is no button next to the air bag key switch. I have 3 stalks as well but as I have an after market CD player in it doesn't really need the stereo stalk any more. I'm aware the I need to get it set up on pug planet that's not a problem I just need the right comms unit as I'm having to drive with my lights on all the time just so I can indicate and the horn packed in weather or not the horn is at fault or not yet but pug planet came up with comms fault.

Going to give this a try today as I got a new 6242c6 comms unit off eBay for £125 instead of the £506 the dealers wanted.
What tools do I need for the job? Torx screwdrivers for removing the cowling? What do I need for the removal of the steering wheel? I read a t55 but is it a male or female socket I need?

Its a MALE torx bit you need for the steering wheel bolt.
Torx 20 screwdriver for the cowling screws.
Small flat blade terminal screwdriver for the airbag connector locking clips.
Medium flat blade screw driver for the releasing the airbag securing clip via the slot.
8mm or 10mm spanner / socket for the com securing clamp.

Excellent. Thanks for your help. Any idea how long I need to leave the battery to discharge the airbag? Some people saying 3 mins, some 10-15 and some 30 mins.
Not wanting to have an airbag explode on me. What's the risk in that happening?

As long as you don't d**k about with the airbag it will be fine, just follow the correct BSI shutdown.
A lot of Peugeot main dealer techs never used to bother disconnecting the battery when they used to change com2000 unit's under warranty.
A friend of mine's record is 12 minutes on a 307 from driving in to workshop to driving back out again.
Only times i've know airbags go off unintentionally apart from dicking about is when people probe the wrong wires on the car OR connect the battery back up with the ignition switched on.
Plus the known issue with the non plexed 206 rotary switch, I've heard of 2 of these so far

Multiplex stereo is VIN security coded, its locked to the BSI unit via the VIN number - it will work perfectly fine once you reboot the BSI unit.

Does anyone know the size of this "bit" to remove the steering wheel bolt?
Assuming they are all the same?

What is ESP? How do you know if you have it? And how is it calibrated? |
It's electronic stability programme. If you have it then you will have a wee button behind handbrake with a fan shaped pic on it |
Wrong. It's down by the passenger airbag switch. The one your talking about is the alarm sensor switch.

Right chaps. Took the comms unit off this morning ready to replace with one I got on eBay. Mine is the 6242c6 one. Anyway when I got the old one off and compared to the new one hey were different (looks like I have been lied to.
I unclipped the units as the fault is with my indicator switch being snapped at base causing it to wiggle. I swapped over the indicator stalks which were attached with little ribbon connections and clicked back together.re installed unit to car in reverse order.
I now have an "airbag fault" message appearing and also indicator won't self cancel. Apart from that everything works.
Any ideas what has gone wrong? Surely indicator stalks are interchangeable?
