I did the injector seals on my partners 1.4 hdi but i could not get the 2 rear bolts back in on the head cover, it justs sits too high.Boy the injectors were so much better to do on my 1.4 petrol.Well i just put it back without the back 2 and put all the 8 top bolts in, been ok for a while but its starting to blow now.
Spent hours trying to get the back 2 bolts to line up to no joy, it sits ok if i take the rubber seals out. I have cleaned it all up and put engine oil on rubber seals but it just wont sit low enough, its just 3mm out.
Do the rubber seals swell with age and maybe new ones will make the job easy or is there some knack to it. All advice most welcome.

|
Check the rubber seals, they'll have marks on them from the plastic intake. Put them like they used to be and push the intake in from the rear first. I've tried replacing them, but the new ones were too tight to fit.

Right hang on, youve done injector seals but not replaced all of the seals?!
Are you mad?!
And if i remember correctly they push down then tuck in and dont seal against the injector

I have replaced all the injector seals , its the 4 large rubber seals that the rear of the plastic cylinder head cover push into. I have cleaned them all they look fine but i can not push the head cover down far enough so i can get the 2 rear bolts in for the plastic cylinder head cover.

I have cleaned the seals can not see any marks on them, i am trying to put the cover on from the rear first. I have coated the seals in engine oil and tried fitting the cover with seals on engine first and i also put them on the cover and tried fitting them that way too.
I just can not get it to sit low enough, its just 2-3mm away .

Looks like you have plenty of grease on them, ordered 4 new ones weldedat tender weldedeach. The bloke said they swell with age, so see if they help
