Morning all,

Quick intro, my fiancée has a 206 1.4 s for about 4years now and its reaching 90k. With this I think I might be on the forums more often from here on in.

So far I've managed to deal with in the last year was a non starter issue. Turned out the clip on the Cam Position Sensor had come loose so that had fallen off.

Also I've had two separate Earth straps corrode green and snap, resulting in no electricity.

Latest one is odd. The idle rpm show 200rpm, yet at this speed I'd expect the engine to be lumpy and juddering to try and keep running but it sounds like its running fine. So could it be getting a mis feed? Driving it feels fine and the rev counter moves as normal.

Do you know anyone with a OBD2 module and an iPhone app which shows the rev counter..? Will be worth checking to see what it's reading.

It certainly looks to be a calibration issue. I have now noticed at ignition off the rpm needle drops way below 0 and is not parallel with the speedo needle at rest.

Ive seen on other threads the speedo having similar issues where something wears out.

No one know of any dial secret menu when you get the dials to calibrate maybe?

Is that just a battery disconnect? I plan to do this when she returns with the car later tonight. I'll feedback my results.

Just for the record I think all that sounds crazy. So if this is a newbie joke then good try. However I've nothing to lose so thanks if that's really the procedure.

I'm new to this forum, but not car forums in general. Bsi searches are hampered by a user called mrbsi. Throws up a large number of results. Be a sport and put a link up Smile

Well tried several times to run through the BSI reset and I see the dials do jump alittle hopefully reflecting this, however the dial looks way off. So either a call to the dealer to see if there is any range of adjustment that can be done via the diagnostic gear or stripping the dash down to manually move the needle on if it has warn out cogs.

I am sure I have seen a fix on here for this issue. You need to reseat the needle.

Very very late update, but only just returned to the forums. It was back to basics. I replaced the battery and the issue was fixed.

Basically every time I switched the ignition on the needle would twitch alittle and go out of calibration. It twitched itself around the clock after awhile. However, it started to not fire up first time. So swapped the battery for a new one and reset the rev counter (took the dash apart and moved to back manually) and its never missed a beat since.
