For under the car.....exposed metal have rusted over time, some areas are worst than others.
What is your advice on this? and what would you recommend?

I know one of the main rust spots in the tank Strap!. I would just replace that! In reference to other parts under the car, its a case of sanding it back and painting it up with black metal paint, (cant remember the name atm.

yes, that tank strap has rusted a bit, was thinking about changing it.....
when you say "sanding it back", does this mean sanding it till bare metal before painting it? That is going to be a hell of a job! or is it possible to just brush off loose rust and maybe sand slightly then paint on the rust itself? and how effective is this really, will it last?
Some of you guys must have done this already many moons ago?

Wire wheel drill bit to get it completely off (or as much as you realistically can) then a rust prevention layer.
Don't use underbody seal it's utter crap either waxoyl or dinitrol if you want to splash a bit more cash.
Depending on how much of an area you are painting don't use hammerite as it will chip and possibly crack with chassis flex.
