Hi, As part of the fuel filter change: on the bottom of the 2.0 Hdi fuel filter housing there is a little bleed knob where you can connect a pipe to.... is that the only bleed valve on the filter housing? I was under the impression that the other thing that sticks out horizontally from the bottom of the filter housing needs loosening ?

I've changed the fuel filter on my 1.4 HDi a few times and never bled it from that part when changing the filter.
Years ago I bought some dodgy diesel that contained some water so I used that bleed screw to remove the water.
When you change the filter use the priming bulb, near the top of the rocker cover, if you have one on your 2.0 HDi.
As mine is a 1.4 HDi doesn't have a lift pump in the tank so if yours does have one then the system should be self priming.
If not then squeeze the bulb until you see fuel in the pipes without bubbles, near the main fuel pump on the engine.

the tap on the bottom is NOT a bleed valve for bleeding the fuel rail system , its for draining off water or the fuel at filter change time.
2.0 HDI is a self bleed system ,change the filter & then just turn the key on for 5-7 seconds a few times before actually starting the engine. ( you will hear the fuel sender pump making a noise under the rear seat )
