Hi All,
There have been no intermittent problems with the car,
Just noticed today after doing 25 miles the STOP light was flashing so i pulled over.
Nothing seemed wrong, no smells, no smoke etc,.
Then noticed the temp guage on the left was in the red.
The fan was working and the radiator water reservior did have water in.
I undid the cap but there was no "steam hissing" but the water was hot.
I squeezed the main water pipe a few times to circulate the water and could feel the tube getting hotter as water was forced round.
Could it be the water pump ??
If so , what kind of cost and work am i looking at ?
Thanks in Advance.

Sounds like it, did you have a sqeaking noise on cold starts for a while?? If so could well be water pump....
The cheapest thing to try first would be the thermostat.
If it is indeed the water pump you are looking at a timing belt kit and water pump. About £300 all in

Hi All,
i think i have got extremely lucky and may have just been an air bubble somwhere blocking circulation.
Asked a neighbour ( who is good with cars ) to have a look and the water reservoir was hot so meant water at some point was moving around.,
this morning, left car running for 30 mins to see what would happen and if needed be use another car.
Took my youngest to school, 1 mile away and came back home for coffee and left car running.
one hour total and did not go over 80 Degrees.
Drove the 26 miles ( country roads ) to work and the temp guages were all at the normal levels.
PHEW
weird though.....

I had a similar problem on my multi-plexed HDi, would even be flashing 'STOP' at me in the morning when the engine was stone cold . Turned out to be a faulty relay.
