hi guys having a number of problems with my 206 1.4
thanks for all the help so far
it seems like my car is overheating the temp gauge does go up like past 90 to 95 but it does not hit the red it does not overheat while idle only when i start to drive.
if im idle its ok,the fan seems to be working any idea what it is
other family drivers are also saying its overheating.it also takes about 10-15 mins to warm up when the car has been off.if i put on the heaters it seems to lower the temp
told it could be the thermostat

my gti goes between 90-95 during stop-crawl traffic. Never goes beyond 95 though. I am just assuming that it is normal but I may be wrong.

+1 stuck thermostat and that is also the cheapest thing to change. One test is to start the car from cold and hold the top hose. It should get hot in a rush. if it gets hot slowly the thermostat may be stuck in one position. Do note though that this is not a 100% test but a guide only.
It could be blocked airflow through the radiator or even blocked radiator internals due to corrosion or general sediment. it might be worth reverse flushing the radiator. That can be done for the cost of the replacement coolant only. What colour is your coolant? Also look closely in the water filler if there is scum or a rainbow colour on top of the water then that could be an indication of head gasket starting to fail. Oil in the water and a white mayonnaise like substance inside the oil filler is a pretty good indication of head gasket failing but again not 100%.
It could be the beginnings of head gasket failure.
It could be a failed water pump.
It could be a complete combination of all the above.
Does it get hot when in moving traffic or only stop / start? It could actually be nothing to worry about.

hi gets hot while moving not stopped
like i mentioned starting the heaters normally cools it down again but it does take a long time to warm up intitally when starting the car if that helps

Hi I my Peugeot 206 1.4 is overheating but not sure what's wrong I have changed the thermostat but to no avail heres the story.
The temp gauge middle is 90 but its always going past that to the next mark but here's the strange bit . When its hits the next mark it comes straight back to 90 and then go back up again then back to 90 again will continue to
if I open the bonnet there is a hell of a lot warm air than usual coming from there

When it goes above 90, the fan kicks in to cool it down. Im assuming it never goes above 90 when driving? Nothing wrong with it.

Check for fault codes, if its what I think it is. Will be related to the fan assembly/wiring

Fan normaly kicks in at 92 degrees I think so normal

From what you said,I would say that your car cooling system is working perfectly,nothing wrong in that,as when it hit the next mark after 90,it means the thermostat opened,and when it opens to let coolant pass to radiator to cool down,the fans kick in,and it's back to 90 sharp,and the thermostat temp is 89oC by the way,so the fans kick in the next mark  about 92-97

If it is doing this while driving at a steady speed (dual carriage way type driving) then that is not correct. If it is only during stop / start town driving or while stationery then that is correct operation.

Hi everyone,i have 02 plate 206 quicksilver.the coolant fan is not working so i replaced the resistor and new relays,fuses look fine so what else can it be,could the fan motor have packed up if so is it easy to replace? Thanks in advance...

Bench test the fan, does it work?
Are you getting feeds down to the fan?
Can you test it with a diagnostic machine?
