right, not sure if anyone will be online at this time but here goes!!
car: 1.4 s 8v , my problem is as follows
engine management light has been on for aaaages shortly after a new lambda sensor(pre cat) was put in, id had problems with it before and had it read by diagnostics that said that was the problem, the lambda sensor cured the problem temporarily however the EML intermittently came back on for a while and is now permanently on. the day before yesterday id received another lambda sensor as having had it read again this was the problem (id assumed there was a possibility id bent the first one or twinged a wire etc)
also ive also changed the exhaust manifold with no issues at the same time as changing the first lambda sensor,(and other than needing a deep 13mm socket lol) that went ok as far as i know, anyway. as said id changed the lambda sensor for another one to test to see if the light would go off again, however for a day if was still the same but on driving home (a very short distance from work and my gf's house) the car started revving erratically and now idles at 2000rpm ive cleaned the throttle body and icv with carb cleaner not so long ago, the engine does need an oil top up as when going right or going around a round about *insufficient oil pressure* warning comes on the display.
If anyone has any glimmer of light that they could shed on this it would be greatly appreciated lol
also when i changed the exhaust manifold i changed that lambda sensor as well.

You're not burning oil are you?
That would cockup the sensor in no time...

The fault needs to be cleared from the ecu when changing a lambda sensor. You must be really low on oil as well. Get it topped up.

oil was quite low, it almost sounds like somethings leaking ?? could it be possible that i didnt put the manifold on properly in some way?? would that cause any of these problems? or be linked to them??

A leak in the manifold could possibly trigger a fault relating to the lambda. Did you replace the gasket as well, and make sure all the nuts are tight.

quick update, gone a bit mental on taking things out/cleaning/replacing and ensuring everything tight and sealed, and whilst doing so came across the culprit of the revving issue, the ICV had basically snapped out of its housing, the four minute wires have snapped so ive ordered a new one should be here monday, ive also had the fuel rail and injectors out 2 of which looked shoddy so changed them accordingly, cleaned the inlet manifold and all seals etc looked in tact no wearing a tears. the nuts on the manifold did do up a slight turn but not enough i wouldnt have thought to cause the EML problem ive also chcked around the exhaust manifold/exhaust pipe leading to it and going further under the car and can find no trace of rust/degradation what so ever so hopefully i shall know more when the part comes and see how everythings running. Also i changed the old exhaust manifold due to a crack and some visible leakage from the old one and a slight tone of whining whilst running, on replacing it that went away instantly so hopefully nothing wrong on that side of things
Any other thoughts on what the lambda problem could be, im aware that the possibilities are infinite but having checked a lot of things surrounding it could it be a simple case of getting the codes wiped and a bit of luck and that will be it?

ReplacIng the ICV might sort your problem out. Other than that you might need it read for fault codes. Replace the ICV and go for a couple of 30 minute drives, letting the engine cool in between. Might clear after that.

well ICV came this morning, cars running smoothly but EML still there so ill get that wiped and see where I am from there, i did however notice after running for around 5-10 minutes on idle some steam emanating from the sides of the exhaust manifold but after inspection found no cracks , should a new gasket set be in order?? and could this be the EML problem throwing the lambda reading out?

Start the car and let it idle and get a mate to hold a scrunched up rag over the end of the exhaust (effectively blocking it) while you look and listen under the car and in the engine bay for leaks. The increased pressure due to you mate blocking the exhaust will show up any exhaust leak. He doesn't have to really fully block the exhaust but just enough to give some extra back pressure.
