***UPDATE***
[b]Hi Everyone.

Just purchased my first Peugeot and its a 1.4 Hdi in Blue (Pics to follow soon!)

These are when i first picked it up. notice somebody had been rather careless with the rear quater, so booked it in for a repair, respray and colour coding also he's gonna touch up some other little scratches for free if he has paint left over. which is good of him.


 


 


 
 


This is my first diesel car and by far the first economical car I've owned but with my new job requiring a 140 mile round trip every day, The vts has had to go.

I want more power out of the car and I'm planning a full custom built de-cat straight through exhaust from Tony Banks in Leeds and then remapping at RS tuning.

Will the exhaust affect the BHP much? and is it worth the £250+ price tag? will she still sound like a tractor?

Also i would prefer to fit an intercooler before the map as i really don't want overheating with such huge mileage every day.

I've combed the threads all morning and can't find any advice on intercooling a 1.4 HDi only info about the 2.0 HDi.

Is it considered not worth it or too much hassle?

any help would greatly be appreciated.

couple people have intercooled the 1.4hdi.

Good choice and the exhaust. the CAT/particulate filter is right after the turbo stopping it from breathing freely. I'm in the middle of making a decat pipe up for mine.

Air box is quite restrictive to the turbo so I'll be looking into that as well. Remap sees them just shy of 100bhp but with an intercooler I reckon just over?

Are you just decating or getting a full ss system?

Would the 2.0 hdi air box go on it? Maybe with a good panel filter I've heard induction systems are no good for diesels? Not 100% sure though.

Yeah I just want more bottom end poke. But don't want it overheating.

What about one if these universal fmic kits off eBay? The ones that come with ss pipe work. Would that go on these cars?

Im guessing an uprated clutch would be advised to handle the torque. Which could be a problem I've heard the paddle ones are heavy and I do a lot of town driving.

not much power gain you can get from 1.4 HDi,things would be better if you had a 2.0 HDi,but it's your call

A good quality oem filter is what you would be after, k & n filters have oil on them (to aid filtering) and that has a tendency to break the maf sensor. Wouldnt of thought the 2.0hdi setup will fit. Have a look in the projects section on here. There was a 1.4hdi with some different air setup.

Would be a custom job really. A mixture of 90 bends, 45 degree angles and silcone joiners. Twin pass intercooler really would suit the 206 well.

Uprated would help as the clutches are tiny in these. Mine is slipping now. But its on 171k and i reckon its original. I shall probably stick another oem one in, valeo/luk. Due to the driveability. Never actually driven a paddle clutch so cant comment actually.

With all these medications ensure you tell your insurance. Anything that wasn't there when it came out of the factory will be classed as a change.

If you are willing to spend, you can istall CDA intake like this

 


FMIC from 1.6 HDi (above) fits, but you could also go creative and do a custom chargecooler setup like what I've been doing.

 


Straight through pipe is a waste of money, just hollow out the cat and replace the backbox with straight pipe. No BHP gains, but turbo spools faster and you get lower EGT. You'll get bottom end poke by cleaning the intake and while doing so, block the EGR pipe to keep it clean longer.

Yeah I've noticed mines already slipping if I put my foot down, which i don't really do so it's not inconvenient, but I'm going to get it replaced before the remap and hopefully it'll be strong enough.

That looks great! How much have you spent on a charge cooler? And is it a difficult set up to build? I haven't a lot of free time and I can't have my car off the road too long.

So the 1.6 Hdi cooler fits? does all the pipework fit or is that a custom job as well?

You can use some of the piping, but the intake manifold is different. The blue pipe in the picture above will be pain to fit for sure.

 


Chargecooler itself was pretty cheap from eBay, around 100€. Modifying the cooler 300€. Bosch chargecooler pump 100€. Fiat Seicento radiator around 30€.

It's my daily driver as well so I bought another intake manifold to take measures and use it as a jig. Piping isn't done yet, its a slow process.

Blanking the EGR pipe is just a small plate from eBay. Quite easy to fit and doesn't need removing the pipe. After that, you'll have to get ECU reprogrammed, it throws faults when its blanked but no EML.

So I decided to debadge it today and remove the pillar vinyls, I think they look better, but its a matter of opinion on this I think.

 


Ignore the condition of the number plates, private plates been sent off for, thinking about Stubby plates on as its 6 digits. I think this will suit the front as its so low but I'm a bit skeptical about the back. Anyone got pictures of this? or opinions?

Gave her a service today as the service history stopped in 2009 but was full to max of oil and new discs and pads on front, oil filter looked dirty but not full of gunk, as was the air filter so I presume its been serviced in the last 4 years.

chose crosland filters and Shell Helix ultra 5w 40

Also I'm wanting some Hid's but definitely don't want to be that *Censored*
that drives round with hid's in their reflectors, does anyone know of decent OEM looking projectors that i can attach a 5k hid kit to? Dont want chavvy looking ones, but I do quite like the masked crystals, any projector alternatives?

looking into some junyan crystals as well for the rear, but can't find a supplier anywhere! anybody pruchased these before?

Wheel choice at the moment is white 16" Nimrods, I originally thought white as the car was such a basic blue that looks awful up to the aegean blue, it needed something to make it stand out. But I am a little apprehensive to take the plunge, any better colour anyone would recommend or any feedback on the white would be appreciated.

Decided to De-cat today...
 


seems a little more responsive now and pulls lower down in the rev range, think with a remap this will be fairly nippy for a small derv.

also added some SMD's for chavvynes Smile
