This week i have finally got around to doing my tappets as after i had done the cam belt it needed quieting down. All was going to plan until i had noticed one a little too tight, i tried to undo it but the actual adjuster and nut just came off splitting the adjuster in half. It is left in there with a gap off too small, is there a way i can remove this and anyone know off a price just for the one tappet? or will i have to replace the whole thing? the whole thing i have found for around 30 on ebay, the car still runs etc just feels a little flat at times and still not 100%. many thanks

When doing tappets (the valves) have to be left settle down over a period of a couple of months and 700+ miles.

If you broke a threaded black pin, the whole cam assembly has to come off to replace it, a good opportunity to replace the head gasket as well.

You might have to re-adjust a couple of times after each settling period if they have been neglected for some time.

Good luck and it's worth it.
