Hi, I have a 206 2.0l hdi, I have a problem with my engine... When I drive and build up a bit of speed its like an engine fan kicks in and builds up louder and louder the faster the car goes it is so loud you can barely hear the engine itself as the fan noise is all you can hear... I say fan noise but honestly dont know wat it is... I travel a 50mile round trip too and from work so car is needed desperately, so im hoping maybe one of you may have had this trouble before or maybe be able to shed some light on what this problem might be.... Any info greatly apprieciated...

Hi Robp.
I would first first remove fuse (no1 a large 20amp) which is lacated in the engine compartment underneath the smaller fuses.
If this resolves the issue, i would assume 1 of the 2 relays is at fault, at the front left down at the side of the radiator, inside the black box.

Get a knowledgeable mate to have a look or take to the garage and ask for a quick report on what they think is wrong. Diagnosing "noises" is so hard without hearing it for yourself.
Morris 1000, Austin 1100, Escort Mk2, Fiat Mirafiori, Alfa 33, Alfa GT Junior, Alfasud, Alfetta GTV (2x), Alfa 164 3.0 V6, Alfa 164 2.0, Alfa 75 V6, Alfa 156 2.4 (diesel remapped 200bhp), Alfa 147 GTA (3.6 295bhp), Alfa 159 (diesel remapped 245bhp 300ft.lbs @ 2500rpm)
Why isn't my daughter an Alfaholic?

Thanks for the replies guys... Im not knowlegable when it comes to engines or even the rest of the car for that matter lol.. I looked at the fuses but was way over over my head when it comes to tinkering with the engine,
Also looked for lose pipes but everythin looks pretty normal (to the untrained eye).
Have just tried the car parked with engine revved but that same noise doesnt happen, although I said it sounded like a fan its more of a loud drone, droning over engine noise,
Have a mate who was very knowledgable when it came to any factor of a car or its engine but sadly lost touch over the years...
I have it going to a garage tomorrow but wanted to try get an idea of what it might be before hand as I hate going to a garage without a clue incase I get ripped off... I thank you all again for your time and knowledge lol as can now point out a few possible causes without looking 100% clueless lol
