I've been meaning to clean the vvt solenoid for a while and finally got around to it. Got it out no trouble and gave it a good clean. When I put it back in I've rounded off the little Allen key screw that holds it in. Anyone know where I can get another one from? Will it be alright to run with the solenoid not in completely tight. Moves a few mm up. Thanks

Well you better replace the screw as soon as you can,and it can be found in any hardware store, you don't want the oil to be out while you drive if it's not tight enough,so better to done now.

No. This is how I did it.
Disconnect battery (follow proper procedure)
Removed the engine cover.
Took out the coil pack (makes it easier to access).
The VVT is situated just to the left of the coil pack.
Removed the little screw with a 5mm Allen key iirc and disconnected the solenoid. Removed the solenoid with mole grips (carefully).
Cleaned with carb cleaner.
Replaced parts in reverse order

Look in your local Yellow Pages or 192.com. Find a nut and bolt or "fastenings" retailer - there must be quite a few in Oxford - take your car or just the bolt and they will match it.

Don't think it's too important at the moment

Yeah it will. My 180 was feeling a bit sluggish and didn't seem to pull as well as it used to. Took it out and cleaned it and it really made a difference. Pulls right up to the red line and so much smoother. Well it did anyway
