Hi i have a GTI 180. Got a YAW sensor fault upon diagnostics. Can anyone tell me where this sensor is located and possibly what it looks like. Are they available at motor factors? .. Price of them ??

I think it's on the passenger floor under the carpet under the front seat area

It's part of the ESP system. It senses lateral movement on the car so that it can adjust the throttle to prevent the slide or something like that.

Yaw sensors are in most cars nowadays.
With the use of the steering wheel angle sensor they predict the way in which the user wants to go and what way the cars going, to then it sends these signals to the ABS to adjust each brake individually if required

Well, I had an incident today with fallen boxes on the left-hand lane suddenly and I had to slow down so quick the car jerked and lost traction.
There was lateral movement and even oscillation until you regain full control.
However, that 'wakes you up' very quickly and instinctively you turn the steering accordingly (as well as brakes or whatever).
This is in my standard non-ABS/ESP 1.4i with mechanical throttle.
I really like the ABS on the 2007 TU3A 206, really excellent.
I've never really had much experience with ESP but I drive very slowly with other's cars that might have it. Since this is an emergency feature as I understand it, it would have come-in handy today..
