I know that the GTi has shorter springs, but does the 1.6 have different springs to the 1.4/1.1? I need to return my 206 to standard height, but can't find my original springs anywhere!

Yes i think so because engines are heavier etc so lowering measurements would be inaccurate i think

It's all about the weight of the front end, engine and gearbox to be exact. Different engines with their gearboxes weight different amounts and the springs meant for the whole packet are "tuned" to hold that weight. So springs for a heavier engine might raise the front end much more than the ones that are meant for the car in the first place.
Same goes for lowering springs, they won't lower it as much as they should if the springs are meant for a heavier front end.
Have you asked what new original springs cost? I haven't checked for a while but a couple of years ago full suspension (shocks+springs to front and rear shocks) set for my 306 S16 cost less than a decent quality lowering kit. But then I went for quality coilovers.
Just checked from Servicebox that what kind of springs there are for 206. After I quick peek I discovered that there can be several different springs even on a let's say 1.6 8v 90hp model. The differences come from what the car is fitted fit, if it has aircon, abs/non-abs, sunroof and then all the mixes of these.
Just think about how much a set of a/c component weight - it can be easily the same amount that there is difference to a heavier engine..
And after all this, think about the cheap lowering sets that are sold to fit all the models in range.. "Knowledge increases pain" said one wise man to me once about these

They are model-specific but are fully inter-changeable and compatible!
