Hi All,

Im new to the site and wish to rack a few brains.

I have a 2004 206 1.1L and yesterday the clutch pedal went stiff, so i left the car on the drive. i started the car this morning and the biting point has moved, previously biting point was 1/1.5 inch from the top of the travel, it is now 2 inches from the bottom of the travel (2 inched from the floor). I spoke to my local Kwik Fit (should be called Quick Quid, robbing B******s). They reckon i need a new clutch, i dont happen to believe this as the clutch isn't slipping and seems to be operating correctly.

After doing a bit of research online and it appears all i need is a new clutch cable and "auto-adjuster" (i dont know what that is). As the thread on the cable may have worn.

Can somebody either confirm this is the case, or advise me otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

The autoadjuster is built into the clutch cable, which you can get from a peugeot dealership for about £29+ vat. Bare in mind it could well be the clutch after all even if it doesn't slip and is still working but just stiffer.

It is hard to diagnose whats wrong with your car over the internet, your best bet is pop into an independant garage or a few and get them to see what they think to it and then get some prices.
