Hi guys, Ive noticed a horrible sound from my car. its a 1.4 LX and the engine sounds tinny when accelerating. I only notice the sound with the window down. On my MOT there's an advisory that says slight blowing so im guessing thats what the problem is. I want an after market exhaust so i can get rid of the limp looking tail pipe, but im not a fan of loud exhausts, I just want one with a quiet, deep rumble and a tail pipe that doesnt look like a limp appendage. Any suggestions on which one to buy?

Many thanks, Luke

First off where is the blow? Get under the car and look.

Get a custom one if you want a specific noise.

Hi guys, Managed to get under the car but haven't found the issue. Its not the back box, its nearer the engine.

Here is a video of the noise

I would say the back box is past its best. It has started to delaminate and should be replaced before bits of it end up laying in the road.
Have a look on fleabay for a suitable alternative if you are on a budget or let us know what funds you have to spare so we can point you in the right direction

Is there a a cheaper option? Im in need of new alloys + lowering springs so id rather spend less on an exhaust. Do you have an idea of whats causing the problem?

Many thanks for your help.

Managed to get under the car and have a look, there's a two piece clamp with bolts on either side in the middle of the exhaust pipe, which rattles which is making the metallic rattle. Tried to tighten but no avail, it's rusted beyond belief so it's gonna be a hard job to do. By the looks of it , the exhaust looked welded on so this clamp is useless. Is that right?

Thanks.

Sounds like a new exhaust needed.... if your old alloys are still rond I would spend my money on the exhaust
