Ok so my friends 1.4 8v quicksilver (y plate preplexed) wont start.

there is a clicking from the fuel pump relay (which we replaced with a brand new item), still clicks when ignition is turned on. The coilpack isnt getting any power to produce a spark and the fuel pump isnt priming/running. We tried to wire a direct power source to the pump once we removed it from the system and it works fine, just doesnt seem to be getting a signal when to do its thing when its in its place. we also tried the bsi reset procedure and that has done nothing. Somone on a google search said to check earth leads, so did that but their all fine.

there hasnt been anything leading up to it, it just wouldnt start one morning.

any ideas what the issue could be? Could it be immobiliser issue? Any ideas on anything more we could check off?

My first thought was the immobiliser. Has he got a spare key he can try?
