Hi guys, I got round to changing the aux belt on my 206 1.4 today. All was going well until we started her up and SMOKE!. The belt is rubbing on the tensioner bracket and no matter how many times I move it away the belt slips back again. Can anyone shed any light to this problem.

Its not tracking the belt straight.... check you have located it correctly. There is a peg that locates it. you may have it on pi... (drunk)

When working with flat belts they "climb" up hill. If the pulley isn't square the belt will climb the pulley.
When you look at some of the old fashioned steam or stationary engines that drive other equipment via large flat belts the reason the belts stay on is the pulleys are convex (they are slightly larger in the middle than outside edges.) therefore each side of the belt tries to "climb" toward the centre keeping the belt on the pulley. Useless info for the day over.
If you pulley isn't square the belt will climb that pulley.
