Trying to solve the steering problem i have at the moment, with throttle pulls to the right, off throttle pulls back to normal.
Replaced so far which were worn.
Drop links. (both)
Track rods (both)
O/S Upper mount (collapsed) and spring (broken)
All front suspension checked at a garage and then front wheel allignment done.
Still the same,
So i moved my attentions to the rear of the car, seems hunky dorry apart from if i put my hand over the top and behind the tyres either side, there is a noticeable gap difference to the chassis, n/s has a bigger gap than the o/s any clues why this should be and what to check.
I have no tyre wear, not bumped, or curbed the car whatsoever.

My 2 litre HDI was doing this and it took a lot of investigating to find. When you accelerate it would steer itself right but the steering wheel would stay in the same place and you could change lanes by accelerating and holding the steering wheel still it was that bad.
It had new wishbones, inner rack ends, track rod ends, discs, pads, tyres and tracking done and it was still doing it.
In the end it turned out to be the driveshafts. The garages words were "They had a lot of play in the ends"

|
Jack the rear and check for play on the trailing arms and general suspension. Something sounds wrong with the rear and that isn't unusual with the 206 suspension design.

Had new driveshafts fitted last year (August) due to cracked rings, car was ok then when shafts fitted, the steering problem only just started recently. The only thing on the front i can think of is the inner tie rods, but when i changed the outer tie rods i did not feel any play in them, think i will change them next anyway, as a lot of the parts on the car have been on since new.
As for the rear axle and suspension them parts have never been touched either from car being new.
Will check the driveshafts also and see if there is any play in the ends, still got reciept if i was sold crap ones.

Thanks for the advice, like i said nothing on the backend has ever been changed from car being new, 97000 miles on clock, done well really.
When the problem started i took it to the garage i have my MOT done at, and explained the problem i am having with the steering and was apprehensive of driving on the motorway with my son in it, so he checked the car front to back for me, MOT vibrating machine and found nothing wrong at the back end.
Think i will get it rechecked next week with another garage and will let you know. Thanks.

Have you considered that you had a bad (Tire) itself,which makes it pull to right,sometimes it can't be seen by eye,but a tire expert would be able to check this.

Ye considered a duff tyre, just been conentrating at the moment on replaceing
parts that need replaceing, gonna alternate front tyres round tomoz, and in theory if one is bad technically the pull should go to the left, if no joy there am gonna strip down the front n/s pads and caliper and see if they are sticking or binding. Thanks

If n/s pads were sticking car would pull to left ..
Were track control arms good quality or fleabay cheepies? The quality of the bushes can vary a lot.

lower arm needs replacing !! will have a little play . mine pulled right & i replaced the lower arm all was good, got a remap and a week after it pulled left , play in the lower arm . replaced that . all is good . . cars done 95,000 on original ones . scrapys 12 quid each . check they are not bent or have play in . !!

jack the car ! move the bottom of the wheel towards you and try to push it back , wobble it around check the play !! some time you need a metal bar to moved it to see the play ,it can be tight & still move .. check for cracks on the bottom of the hub,where the lower arm bolts in ..two lugs come off the hub , it stared on mine ,when u i was full throttle & it would pull 1 way ..then it slowly got worse .

Never bought of ebay in my life, i prefer to shop locally, and comunicate with the person directly, the ones i got are in a red box and made by TRW, should have been £13 each, knocked him down to £20 for both, he assured me they were good quality, or has he done me.

Went to the garage i use today, and asked them to check out front and back suspension, back end no problems at all, front end he says i have very slight play in lower arm drivers side, other side ok, so i will take your advice and replace both.
I mentioned to him when i got there about the the gaps between the top of the tyres and the chassis, outcome is that i have 2 different makes of tyres on the back, one of them bulges more than the other when carrying full weight of the car, nothing wrong just different makes he said.
He showed me, when he took the car up in the air you could see the tyre with the bulge go normal, how weird.

Just an update, Had a bit of spare time Saturday, so i thought i would visit a couple of garages at random who i have not used before, and see if they would do a thorough investigation of the front and back of the car, which they obliged, and both found no problems with the rear suspension, no play at all in the trailing arms (rather relieved) and also the front wishbones (ball joints) were in good nick and other parts ok, good job i have not proceeded to replace the wishbones.
Their advice is get the tracking done to stop the steer wandering.
So gonna mess about with the tracking myself, the old fashion way, never really had any faith with all this laser tracking palava, its probably having the laser tracking done thats caused my problem, (NOT DONE IT RIGHT) when you take into account all the movement in the suspension parts etc, how can minute tollerances matter, surely you just keep an eye out for tyre wear and adjust tow in or out accordingly, its what i have done for the past 30 years or so.
