Hi ,

I have a Peugeot 206 1.4.

Last year, I blew the head gasket. Car was still going fine, until my brother used it and ran the car on the red.

I changed the head and head gasket.

Now the car has picked up and erratic rev. rev rev rev when it is in neutral.

When it is in gear, the car goes fine.

It is a bit sluggish, no power because of thei idling.

Any idea what I need to replace?

A 206 1.4 could be either 1.4 HDI, 1.4 petrol 8 valve or 1.4 petrol 16 valve, also with the petrol engine options it could be either mechanical throttle cable or electronic fly by wire throttle.

We really need more info on the engine fitted to the car first before we can help you.

As BSI said more info would help.
But anyhow I'd start with the throttle value and dismantle and give it a good clean, simple job will take you no more then half hour. How to on the forum, I'll link when I'm home.

Any exhaust leaks or air leaks on the inlet or any of the other breather pipes? All cables connected correctly.

Fix that first. Waste of time doing anything else until the exhaust is a perfect seal.
