W reg 1.4 8v Auto, the auto box is now reluctant to go into 4th/top gear, it revs its nuts off until I slow down, sometimes it will go into top gear but it is getting worse. Question; will a change of ATF fluid help? Can the problem be ironed out via a softwear update thru Peugeot? Or, is the box on its way out!!

You better have it scanned via PP2000,and see what fault stored in the Automatic Gearbox ECU,I'm sure you have a problem in the pressure regulation and variation valve,so you need to replace that valve, and change oil,and write the oil wear counter so that the ECU know it has been changed.

Thanks for swift reply. Next question is; is replacing the valve expensive? The car is not worth a great deal of money.
