Hello guys,

Got into my car today after filling the windscreen washer and my wipers don't work anymore. Fuse is fine, there is no sound or anything when there turned on. Of course the washer is not working either.

The car does not have a rear wiper as it was removed by previous owner.

Any help greatly appreciated guys!

Thanks.

Cameron.

Test the connections with a multi metre to see if current is getting through.

Could have potentially over filled and damaged electrics but I doubt they would be exposed.

Don't have a multi metre at the moment.

I know there's an earth just below the washer bottle but I doubt getting that wet would have any effect?

Stuck lol

Very small shot at affecting the washer pump, but it's in a position where the designers must account for occasional water anyway, so quite unlikely...
The wiper motor is far away from the washer bottle, more or less in the opposite corner of the engine bay.

That both your wipers and washer went out at the same time makes me suspect the component they have in common - the stalk...

What year is your car (pre plex or multiplexed)?

Thanks for the reply mtempsch.

The car is a 2000 2.0 HDI. I'm not sure what you mean by pre plex or multiplexed, forgive my lack of knowledge lol.

Different style electric systems; different fuses layout, wiring, ways of doing stuff.
A 2000 would be from before (pre) Peugeot introduced the multiplexed system. Your radio control stalk should be long and thin compared to the shorter chunkier one on the multiplexed system. Pic of multiplexed radio stalk

Yeah, I have the long thin one.

So your guess is the stalk then?

Not that I'm very familiar with the pre-plexed 206s, but that's where 'I'd start looking, given both washers and wipers failing and, AFAIK, them being fairly separated systems apart from in the stalk and its supply...

You may want to wait for further input - I guess many of the regulars are away this weekend.

Could of course be a coincidence and both pump and motor failing at about the same time... A guy with a meter and the wiring schema should be able to tell fairly quickly.

Now alls you need to find out is why the fuse blew just from topping up the washer bottle.

Since washer fluid level should be checked as part of the weekly fluid checks, it could become a PITA changing the fuse every week.
